This summer, Camryn Grimes is launching a new podcast called The Soap Opera Survival Guide. The Y&R star, who recently celebrated her silver jubilee on the show, took to Instagram last week to share the exciting news.
She announced the podcast during an Instagram Live appearance that lasted for almost 20 minutes. You should definitely give it a listen when it launches as it’s for a good cause. You can listen to The Soap Opera Survival Guide on Patreon for a dollar a month, which Camryn says she will donate to charity.
At the moment, she is in the process of hiring a producer and an editor for her podcast. She plans to follow a weekly schedule, with a new guest each week and there will be an interactive segment where she will answer voice questions that fans can send in. With her weekly episodes, Camryn hopes to give fans a break from all that’s happening in the world right now.
Camryn went on to explain why she decided to name the podcast, The Soap Opera Survival Guide. Growing up on a soap herself, the actress knows that there are plenty of lessons that soap operas can teach us. She revealed that she wants to give her listeners a raw and intimate conversation with their favorite soap stars and give a glimpse of what their lives are like being on a soap opera.
25 years of Camryn Grimes on the Young and the Restless
Camryn began playing little Cassie Newman on the Young and the Restless in 1997 when she was only 7 years old. On March 18 this year, the two time Daytime Emmy Award winner celebrated her 25th anniversary on the show. She posted this throwback photo of herself on Instagram and wrote in the caption,
“25 years ago this little girl found a lucky penny and I am still in awe of the luck we’ve had since. I found purpose, motivation, drive, responsibility, creativity, friends, family and a whole mess of fun. Thanks for sticking with me, here’s to the luck not running out! Love to you all.”
Talking to Daytime Confidential recently, Camryn revealed that she never thought she would make it this far on the show. She said,
“ I died on the show! It felt like the end. If you had asked me then, “Did you ever think you’d be back on the show?” Well, never I’m dead. It’s very amazing and strange and serendipitous it happened the way it did.”

Camryn talked about the struggle of starting over with a new character and said that there was a lot of doubt and fear because she was unsure if the fans who loved her as Cassie would accept her as Mariah.
“She’s sardonic, witty and has a chip on her shoulder. I just tried to figure out who this person was. That was my main focus to distract from, “Oh God, people are going to hate me,”
said the actress.
Camryn Grimes on her iconic Cassie Newman storyline
When asked about her favorite Y&R moments over the years, Camryn had two answers – Cassie’s death and Mariah’s coming out, which were obviously both monumental and changed the trajectory of the canvas of the show. Especially Cassie’s death, which sent a lot of characters on the show in a completely different direction.
Camryn shared that she was honored to be a part of that storyline. She was nominated for her fourth Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series after her exit. In 2018, Camryn took home her first Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.
Congrats Camryn on your monumental Y&R milestone! We’re super excited for the upcoming podcast. Camryn shared that she plans to launch the podcast sometime in June. So be sure to stay connected with the actress on social media to know the exact date of her debut episode.
