Eric Braeden tears up updating fans on his cancer
Fans have been worried about Eric Braeden’s health ever since he revealed he has bladder cancer. He talked about it on his Facebook Live before and recently, in an interview, Eric got emotional and was even tearing up while opening up about his condition. If you want to know the details, let’s get right into it.
Fighting Cancer: Eric Braeden’s Journey
Eric Braeden has had a couple of health issues in the past year and with time it has become more and more serious. The 82-year-old actor who plays the iconic Victor Newman revealed last year about his knee replacement surgery, which was difficult but got through like a champ! But that was not all, the doctor later found out about his prostate tumor which was quite a shock, and again with surgery, he was fit and fine. Just when he thought it was over, another doctor revealed that he had bladder cancer and it was the last stage. Hearing that, it was a very difficult moment for him and the fans. Thankfully he has it in control and is currently going through treatment. He still hasn’t given up and is fighting and in his words, he “will beat it”. Recently he also opened up about it in an interview.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Braeden told them that he was in the middle of a six-week infusion process to treat the high-grade cancer cells in his bladder. In the interview he also revealed that he is doing well and facing it head-on, stating that he is “feeling pretty good” and “taking it on”. Although he is suffering from cancer himself, he decided to use his celebrity platform to help others, letting them know they are not alone.
Cancer itself can be a scary word. But the Daytime Emmy Award winner is using his fame to increase awareness and do good. He said, “I just want men to know not to be scared of that. I want them to know to have your prostate examined. Have your bladder examined. Have your colon examined. Just acquaint yourself with it and be open about it so that way you take the fear out of people. A lot of men, me included, would not want to know about it. That’s nonsense.”

He is still strong and holding on. He also feels that his background in sports is helping him fight it too. As he is from the sports world he said, “I don’t give up easily. I know a good attitude helps. This is manageable. No two ways about it. I said, ‘Alright, I’ll deal with it. How do I improve as quick as I can?’
But no matter how strong you are, you can get emotional or overwhelmed. that’s only human. Eric has been getting a lot of support from all around the world but one message brought him to tears. During the interview, Eric was shown a video from his good friend and ESPN sports reporter Stephen A. Smith and he was just overwhelmed. He urged Braeden to keep fighting, inspiring others, and “keep his head up”. This meant a lot to him and had to take a sec to wipe away his tears but as we know Braeden, he never misses a chance to tease his Pals, “One of the brightest people I’ve ever met, except he watches the wrong show. He watches General Hospital.” Of course, he was just joking. Don’t we just love his humor?
Eric is still handling it with a positive attitude. He is a fighter after all! He will knock this cancer out! Let’s all hope well for him and give him support through this battle in the comments below!
