Soap Stars Who Have Gone to Jail
We all know that actors can be great at playing different roles on screen, but what about when they get in trouble with the law in real life? Today, we will be diving into the lives of some soap opera actors who have found themselves on the wrong side of the law. It just goes to show that the world of soap operas is not always as perfect as it seems on screen! Some have even paid the price for their crimes by serving time behind bars, while others still face unresolved legal issues. You don’t want to miss out?! Let’s get into it right away.
Number 1: Brenda Dickson
If you’re a die-hard fan of The Young and Restless, then you’ll definitely remember Brenda Dickson, who was a total sensation back in the day. This stunning actress was the original face behind the iconic character of Jill Abbott, and she certainly left a lasting impression on viewers everywhere. From Miss California to TV star, Brenda’s rise to fame was non-stop until she had an encounter with the law that changed her whole life.Brenda was fired from the show in 1987 after she was blacklisted by legendary and late Hollywood producer William J. Bell. It was an $11 million lawsuit that left her broke and homeless with no work.
And then she was married to lawyer Jan Weinberg from 1997 to 2006 until their messy divorce. In 2007, Brenda was arrested after refusing to follow the court’s order to vacate the Hawaii apartment that she shared with her ex-husband Weinberg. According to their divorce settlement, the judge ordered that she received no alimony, and the condo that they shared would be sold and the profit would be divided between the two parties. As she was not having it, she was kept in prison in Hawaii until she chose to follow the Judge’s order. She served 3 months in jail and it left her penniless.
She has claimed in her book, My True Hidden Hollywood Story, that the late producer Bell hired “mafia cartel judges and attorneys” to ruin her life and also talked about how the divorce was unfair and “completely outrageous.”
Number 2: Tyler Christopher
Famously recognized for the role in General Hospital as Nikolas Cassadine, Tyler Christopher has had problems with addiction from an early age. According to him, he had his first drink at the age of 9 and for a long time, he was a functioning addict. There were three times he almost died, two from alcohol poisoning and one from withdrawal.
Prior to his arrest, police got several complaints regarding Tyler being intoxicated in public and “harassing, annoying and alarming another person.” On November 11, 2019, the police arrested him after the Uber driver, who had driven him home, complained that he had passed out in the back of his car and urinated himself with two bourbons in his pockets. He was arrested for public intoxication and was in jail for 3 days. The court fined him $440 and 16 days in jail but his jail time was suspended after Tyler agreed to pay the fine within 5 days, which was November 20.
Since then he has been working on himself. In 2022, on State of Mind, Tyler opened up about how he took things for granted, and threw away all the things that he loved, referring to his departure from the daytime drama series due to his addiction to alcohol. He is also writing a book on his life story which could help others who are suffering from addiction and bipolar disorder just like him.
Number 3: Jessica Morris
Jessica Morris is best known for her role in Days of Our Lives and several Lifetime movies like Sorority Sisters, Killer Mom, and many more. In 2019, she was charged with a felony after trying to bite off her married boyfriend’s lips. According to TMZ, Morris turned herself in September 2019, after the L.A. County District Attorney charged her with domestic violence with great bodily injury. Turns out, in May, Morris got into a heated argument with actor Rib Hillis over their relationship issues as Rib was married to pro dancer Elena Grinenko at the time. The fight got very violent and Jessica viciously bit his lips almost all the way off. He had to get 25 stitches on his lips.
Later at the end of 2019, Elena and Rib got divorced after being married for 11 years. Since then, Jessica got back to her normal life as an actress but Plot Twist!!! Jesicca and Ribs got engaged in 2022. Hopefully, she doesn’t bite him again in case they get into an argument in the future.
Number 4: Stephen Martines
The former heartthrob, actor Stephen Martines, is usually recognized for his famous role as mobster Tony Santos in Guiding Light. Besides being an actor, he is a singer/songwriter and an athlete too. But turns out he is also known to be a scammer. In 2019, Martines was accused by multiple women of using them for loans that he never paid back. According to the RFT story, Martines spent years courting and exploiting women that he met through online dating. They gave him tens of thousands of loans but never got it back.
He would date women and ask them for money but that’s not all. He even scammed $15000 out of a pool repairman. Turns out in 2018, a St. Louis-woman got a restraining order on him after he allegedly locked her in a garage, threw golf clubs at her, and even started a $46000 line of credit in her name without her knowing. With all these accusations, he still continued to release songs.
As far as we know, no legal actions have been taken against him for the scamming, except for the St. Louis-woman case. But it seems Martines is unbothered by it. He has never given a statement about it and looks like he is burying the past and releasing more songs.
Number 5: Michael Muhney
The situation with Michael Muhney remains unclear as there are still ongoing developments. Michael Muhney, former Adam Newman in Y&R, was fired in 2013 due to serious allegations by his co-star. Hunter King accused Michael of groping her breast twice, which she didn’t welcome. She complained to CBS officials. Radar Online reported that Hunter threatened to file a police report against Michael unless he was fired. After Hunter made her allegations, it was discovered that others had also experienced problems with Michael.
Eric Braeden who plays Victor on the show had many run-ins with Michael and were always at each other’s throats. Radar Online reported that Michael Muhney and Eric often fought about their professionalism. Michael took his role seriously and memorized all the lines while Eric was laid back and often ad-libbed, which drove Michael crazy.
The Truth Behind the Allegations: An Inside Look at the Michael Muhney Scandal
Benjamin Franklin said it best, "Believe none of what you hear and half of what you see."
— Michael Muhney (@michaelmuhney) January 7, 2014
CBS even told Hunter to file a police report if she thinks a crime has been committed but she still hasn’t. Both the actors have not talked about those allegations except for a tweet from Muhney which said, “Benjamin Franklin said it best, ‘Believe none of what you hear and half of what you see.’…and that quote doesn’t only apply to what is being said about ME. It also applies to others. Please be kind to everyone. #respect”
But in 2017, on The Peloton Brief Podcast, Michael said the incident never happened and it was not the reason he was fired. He believes it was his ego that kicked him out. He discovered the allegations’ source was a blogger from Florida via a private investigation. Michael denied any wrongdoing towards his co-star and claimed professionalism on set. Fans believed he should have defended himself instead of being quiet and appearing guilty.
In 2020, he also tweeted, “And TMZ owes me the biggest apology ever. Back then they told my lawyers they could never be sued by anybody for anything as long as they used the words “allegedly.” Shame on you TMZ. You are disgusting trash. Scum. Where’s my apology?”
“TMZ owes both of us an apology for dragging our good names through the mud. Victims of a made-up story that sprang from the bowels of the internet. We were both victimized by the baseless clickbait article. She never made those claims. Period. Leave us alone.” After all, Hunter hasn’t denied the allegations either, so this issue is yet to be solved.
