What happened to Sage Newman? Where is she now?
Sage Newman is someone that we still hope to see come back to Genoa City. If you are a longtime fan you will surely remember her during her days on The Young and the Restless. With her striking beauty and razor-sharp wit, she was a force to be reckoned with on The Young and the Restless, and her impact is still felt to this day. If you are wondering what she is up to nowadays, we have got you covered. But first, let’s pick up where she left us.
Sage Newman: A Mysterious Addition to Genoa City
Kelly Sullivan joined the cast of The Young and the Restless in the role of Sage Newman in the fall of 2014. Before she joined Y&R, she was already in the television industry. She made her debut in 2005 with a guest role in the hit series, Law and Order. She also appeared in a number of popular series like The Good Wife, Body of Proof, CSI, and even in True Blood. But she had her breakthrough role when she joined General Hospital as Connie Falconeri, which got her nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award. Then in 2014, we first saw her as Sage Newman.
Sage was a mysterious woman who showed up in Genoa City. She was actually the beloved ward of Constance Bingham. Constance was the grandmother of Gabe Bingham, who attended boarding school with Nick Newman. When Gabe came to live with his grandma, he met Sage and they instantly became close friends.
When Sage and Gabe found out that his grandma wanted them to marry so that she could leave them her money, they both decided to tie the knot. But on the night of their wedding, they found Adam badly burned. When Gabe tried to save him, he drowned. Later, there was a whole mix-up at the hospital, and Adam was declared dead when he was still alive. So, Adam took Gabe’s identity through plastic surgery, and Sage and Adam both benefited from it financially.
That wasn’t enough for Adam. He went back to GC to win back Chelsea with his new identity as Gabe. Sage also followed him and that’s where she met Nick and fell in love with him. Although Sage was still married to Adam at the time, which was fake by the way, she got closer and closer to Nick. Everything changed when she got pregnant. There was confusion about the baby daddy at first. After the paternity test showed Nick was the father, they both quickly got married.

Well, in a shocking turn of events, Victor revealed Adam to be the actual father of Christian. However, Adam decided to give up his parental rights to Nick.
That seemed like a happy ending, right? Unfortunately, that wasn’t. Sage went to early labor in the park with Adam. Later, in the hospital, she was told that she lost the baby while in reality, a nurse had stolen it to give it to Sharon, who had no idea that she was the one who had actually lost her baby. Eventually, Sage found out that Sharon’s baby, Sully, was actually her son Christian.
She hurried to tell Nick that Christian was alive when she dropped her phone in the car which made her lose control of the car and it crashed. It was a tragic end. Needless to say, her last scene where she got to hold her baby for the first and the last time was heartbreaking. Sharon was right behind her car so waited with her till the ambulance arrived and allowed her to hold Christian as she took her last breath with her baby in her hand. That way, in 2016, Kelly Sullivan left The Young and the Restless.
