Sheila Carter is alive but who did Steffy Forrester Kill that night?
Josh Griffith reveals Young and the Restless’s shocking return to look forward in 2024
The Young and the Restless is about to do it again. You’d think Jordan and her horror show was over but now there are some more coming our way for the new year. Another crazy toon is heading towards Genoa city in 2024. So who could it be? Let’s find out right away.
Remembering 2023’s most memorable returns of The Young and the Restless
This year, Young and the Restless has been bringing a lot of blast from the past. They have been hitting the viewers with some nostalgia along with some pretty exciting villains and drama. The villains were pretty unexpected, along with the storylines. The first throwback villain that came to the radar was Cameron Kirsten, bringing back a lot of memories from the past. Like how he used to stalk Sharon and was totally obsessed with her. Even this time, he was the same but sadly, he died in the end.
Then came in Claire and Aunt Jordan. Claire was revealed to be Victoria and Cole’s dead baby which shocked us all. As for Jordan, she was the crazy sister of the crazy Eve Howard. Her main goal for wrecking the Newmans’ life and trying to kill them was for revenge. She stole Claire as a baby, fed her lies to turn her against her own family, kidnapped Nikki and tried to kill Victor, Nick and Victoria, all at once by poisoning them. But obviously, she was unsuccessful and the Newmans were set free.
But according to Josh Griffith , the head writer and executive producer of Y&R, this is not the end of the terror. In an exclusive interview with Soap Opera Digest, Griffith said that he is always diving into the history to find something that’ll spark a story because he always thinks that it’s much more satisfying for the audience, especially for the long-term audience. He said, “If there’s something that we can just hook to the past, so that they go, ‘Oh wow. I remember that and I thought that was over and done with,’ as opposed to always bringing in something new.” That’s why he is constantly looking at the past to see whom to bring back up in town.
He’s always on the lookout for old-school villains because it’s way more satisfying than throwing in some random new villain every week that no one gives a damn about. According to him, there’s no real emotional punch, just a cheap trick. Sure, gimmicks can be fun, but he’d rather dig into the past and tie the threat to bigger issues. That way, you get a whole year’s worth of stories from just a handful of episodes.

Shocking return takes place this New Year’s Eve
So who could be making a comeback next? We have a couple of people in our mind out of many bad guys of GC.
First and foremost it could be Sheila Carter, played by Kimberlin Brown. She is the kind of character that can never really turn a new leaf. After getting her hands full in Bold and Beautiful, she might need a change of air and just hop over to Young & Restless. Since Lauren and Esther went for a crossover, maybe Sheila could do the same with the old Lauren and Sheila rivalry coming back up.
And what if Lisa Mansfield, that crazy ex of Brad Carlton, made a comeback? You know, the one who threw him in a cage, thinking he’d magically fall in love with her again. Imagine if they brought her back to Genoa City, this time played by Sarah Joy Brown from General Hospital, and she found out Brad had died. Heartbroken, she might think she’s seeing a ghost when she runs into Bill Spencer, who looks like a twin from The Bold & The Beautiful, while he comes to GC for some business. They could start a fling, but things would go south real quick when he tries to convince her he’s not Brad but a different man.
Then there is Isabella Brana who was portrayed by Eva Longoria. Remember when Isabella, the nut job, who tried killing Christine and got shipped off to the loony bin. Even her and Paul’s kid, Ricky, went off the deep end and sadly, got himself killed. I’m pretty sure in Isabella’s twisted mind, she’d probably blame Christine for that too! Although the actor might not take back the role, maybe some else could. Got any recommendations?
