Post Emmy is hitting hard for our Chelsea’s portrayer, Melissa. While it was an Epic Emmys night, the next day she had a little hangover situation going on. A night away from the kids was a blast, but now, she is back to reality, and that’s being a mom of two kids. And she showed us all about it on her Instagram post.
With the caption, “back to reality”, Egan posted a little clip, where she is holding her youngest son, Jake, who’s giggling up a storm for the camera. Melissa, who was up for an Outstanding Lead Actress Emmy, bravely admits, “Parenting while hungover from a very fun Emmys’ party… it’s quite difficult.” And trust me, she’s not alone in this struggle.
In the background, you catch a glimpse of her hubby, Matt Katrosar, getting a shoutout. But hold up, it’s not just the hangover; it’s the chaos too. Her oldest son, Caden, is on the verge of causing a mini-tornado in the house. Melissa repeats it again, “It’s quite difficult, pray for me.” A lot was going on in the video, and you definitely want to see this.
Now, the real MVPs here are her Young & Restless pals. Catherine Bach, who played Chelsea’s on screen mom, is all about that cute baby face, cheering, “That face!” Elizabeth Hendrickson, aka Chloe, joins the fun talking about Jake’s giggle, and Rebecca Budig, Melissa’s former All My Children castmate, also hopped in the comments saying, “Oh My God. That baby with that smile. And you. I’m dead.”
But guess what? The Emmy aftermath didn’t just hit Melissa; it hit her dress plans too. The day after the ceremony, she let us all in on her behind-the-scenes journey with designer, Oliver Tolentino. Apparently, she almost rocked a different version of that stunning gown we all saw.

With the title, “The story of the dress! “ Egan went on to explain, saying, “Oliver Tolentino has been so good to me!” She confesses to stalking the dress on Oliver’s Instagram over a year ago, proclaiming, “If I’m ever nominated again, I have to wear this dress.” And luckily, just then Melissa’s 2022 storyline, where she almost killed herself on Y & R, got her a seventh Emmy nomination. But hold on, she was about to be seven months pregnant at the Emmys. But now worried Oliver was there for the rescue. Oliver, being the sweetest guy, says, “No problem, I’ll make you a pregnant version if you’re expecting.”
But plot twist! The Daytime Emmy Awards, originally set for June, hit a snag with a Writers Guild of America strike. Fast forward to December, and guess what? Melissa’s already given birth to Jake Joseph. The modified dress idea goes out the window, and she rocks the original version like the absolute queen she is. Melissa wraps it up, giving a shout out to Oliver for being so wonderful, and wrote, “ I’m forever grateful to wear this piece of art!”
Emmy was definitely a whole rollercoaster ride. From the dress drama to the wild hangover parenting struggles, it sure was a night to remember. What did you think about her dress ? Let us know in the comments below.
