Mishael Morgan, the talented actress who played the role of both Amanda Sinclair and Hilary Curtis on Young and the restless is without a doubt one of our faves. But she hasn’t been seen on the show for quite some time now. I mean Hilary is dead, that’s clear but what about Amanda. The fans can’t help but wonder if she is coming back or not and finally we got to hear all about it from the actor herself.
First thing first, Morgan is absolutely killing it outside the soap world with her back to movies and one that’s about to be out is a new Christmas movie and it’s jam packed with action. And it’s all thanks to Y&R.
Last December in 2022, the actor announced that she had just finished wrapping up shooting her movie and described it as one of the most amazing experiences in her life! She wrote, “Making art with people like this, IS THE DREAM. I am so blessed and honored to bring this movie to life with all of you.” And now finally after a year that movie, “SWORN JUSTICE: Taken before Christmas” just got released on November 16.
Morgan plays the role of Sophie Porter and stars opposite Leland Martin, who plays D.A. Ty Jarrett. Right after Ty and Sophie start their relationship, and then suddenly each learns that the other has been abducted! With no phones or anything, they have no choice but to comply with the ominous voice calling the shots if they want to rescue each other. Morgan said, “It seems like it’s connected to some old undercover cases,” and now, she’s on a mission to track him down and dismantle whoever is behind this chaos.
Young & Restless’ Mishael Morgan Drops Exciting News: ‘I Can’t Wait’
Mishael Morgan moving on – Leaving Y&R?
In an interview with Soap She knows, she said that this film was totally out of her comfort zone. She shared that she actually injured herself on the first day on set. At first she thought, “Well, this is the beginning of the end!” but things only got better from there. And Surprisingly the biggest challenge while shooting the film wasn’t the action scenes but it was “getting used to not doing a lot,” she said. Soap operas, she noted, keep you constantly moving, while Sophie required a more composed and grounded presence. She said, “Sometimes less is more.”
The fight scenes were tough, but Morgan’s Y&R experience came in handy, especially in handling a tight shooting schedule and getting things done right away which made it easier for her director to work. She said, “That’s a skill I learned on the soap, being prepared and ready to deliver very quickly. “
Describing the movie as the “black Die Hard,” Morgan highlighted its blend of high-energy storytelling, Christmas vibes, and a love story. If Sworn Justice becomes a series, Morgan’s all-in, hoping people love it and want more of Sophie’s adventures.
As for a return to Young & Restless, don’t worry because Morgan is still a part of the show and is totally open to it. She said, “there’s always a chance. I’m still recurring on the show, and I would love to get in there and tell a little more story. There’s still more to explore with Amanda.” Maybe after she is all finished with the busy schedules with her new movies, she will make a comeback.
