Young & the Restless CANCELLED in 2024? Show Exec Reveals Soap’s Fate
Young and the Restless celebrated its 50th anniversary, last year in 2023. So, we’re left to wonder how many more years are we getting, and just recently, the show’s executive announced its plan on whether it’s about to renew for a new season or not. Is Y&R cancelled in 2024? Let’s get into it right away.
CBS cancelled Young and the Restless?
The Young and the Restless has been around this industry for ages. I mean, they first aired back in March 1973, and in about a month they are stepping into their 51st anniversary. Many of you guys already know that since its debut, it has won 11 Daytime Emmy Awards too. Over half a century, many cast and characters have come and gone, but one thing that has stayed the same is the love from the fans, and the entertaining dramas that happen in Genoa City. But just for how long can it uphold the name of “one of the longest running Soap in History”? Well, the answer is a very long time.
Yup, you heard that right. Y & R isn’t going anywhere, as the show has just been renewed for some more years. It’s time to celebrate, people!! You will be over the moon to hear the news of February 27 that the top-rated soap opera has been renewed by CBS, for not just one, but four more years. With this renewal, the show will continue to entertain viewers into its 55th season in 2028.
Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment, expressed her excitement about the show’s continued success, stating, “The Young and the Restless has been a staple of daytime television for over 50 years, and it is with great pleasure that we will continue that legacy at CBS. The talented cast and writers deliver compelling performances, and stories, on a daily basis and have provided iconic moments that have kept the show on top of the ratings, and thrilled generations of fans for over five decades.”
Reisenbach also mentioned that she is looking forward to seeing what new creative twists and turns the show’s creators have planned for the residents of Genoa City. Fans of the show have been following the current drama with Victoria’s long-lost daughter being alive and well, and of course, Aunt Jordan Terror.
And then there’s Phyllis, back to her old scheming ways, competing with Christine for the attention of their favorite singer, Danny. Ashley seems to be going through some sort of multiple-personality disorder. And let’s not forget about Mamie, the Abbott family’s former housekeeper, who’s returned to Genoa City with a whole lotta power, and even more animosity toward old foe, Jill.
Adam Sharp, president and CEO of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, also congratulated the show on its renewal. The Daytime Emmys also recently celebrated its golden anniversary, alongside The Young and the Restless in 2023, and Sharp is more thrilled. “It is so gratifying to see the continued passion for daytime television stay so strong. We look forward to celebrating with the Young & Restless team again, at the 51st annual Daytime Emmys later this year,” he said.
