Soap vet Vincent Irizarry lands ER after trying to save a woman | Undergoes emergency surgery
Y&R alum Vincent Irizarry underwent emergency head surgery on Friday, March 11. A medical crisis hit the actor after suffering from some serious injuries about three months ago. Irizarry’s girlfriend confided to fans on social media that he sustained head injuries late last year after trying to fight off a bad man at a parking lot. What exactly had happened there? Here’s everything you need to know.
Vincent Irizarry’s girlfriend spoke out about the incident
Yvonne Glisson, Irizarry’s girlfriend took to Instagram this past week to ask for prayers for the actor. “I need to share some sad news about sweet Vincent and ask for prayers,” she started.
“Back in December, Vincent was walking out a restaurant/bar and witnessed a man being volatile to his wife in the parking lot. He went right over to intervene and calm the man down and instead was then violently hit to the ground himself. The man then proceeded to beat his wife unconscious.”

Vincent suffered multiple bruises and a serious head gash and concussion resulting in fluid to his brain. He was rushed to the ER and was treated for his head wound and other injuries. However, over the last three months, his condition got worse as the fluid to his brain had substantially increased. So he needed emergency head surgery last Friday.
“To all his fans, friends, followers and prayer warriors out there, please please please send Vincent positive vibes and please keep him in your prayers at this time. Say a special one for his surgeon and a successful procedure and speedy recovery,” Glisson continued.
Yvonne Glisson returned with Vincent Irizarry’s health updates
Good wishes for the actor flooded on social media from fans and co-stars alike. And thankfully, the prayers seem to have done their job.
Glisson returned to Instagram with an update on Saturday, stating that Irizarry was in a stable condition now.
“Overwhelmed with the outpouring of love and concern we have received concerning Vincent’s emergency surgery. So hard to answer each of you individually…Vincent’s surgeon performed the procedure early this am skillfully but finding a bit more than he expected,” she wrote.

“He has been watched and tested all day and thankfully fluid has not increased again. They will keep him there and be watching for that or any complications and observing his condition before sending him home. Otherwise Vincent has been awake all day talking, eating and being his ever charming self even with his head bandaged and tubes coming out all over him! On behalf of Vincent, Thank you for all the love and well wishes. It is not overlooked or taken for granted. He is as always grateful,” she added.
That’s certainly great news. However, Irizarry will still need some more time to get back his health. So everyone, please keep him in your prayers and wish him a continued and thorough recovery, along with us.

As the actor says, Y&R isn’t his first soap (or the last). He started his daytime career in 1983 as Lujack on Guiding Light. Then, he appeared in Santa Barbara, All My Children, and One Life to Live before finally netting a role on Y&R.
After leaving Y&R, he joined Days of Our Lives and was most recently seen playing the role of Jordan Armstrong in The Bold and the Beautiful.
