Proud mom Melissa Ordway shares daughters’ career day at school
Melissa Ordway’s little girls are growing up way too fast, and guess what? They’ve already got their big dreams lined up for when they’re older. Get ready to hear about what these future superstars are planning to be, and trust me, Melissa is one proud mama!

You know the saying, “Like mother, like daughter”? Well, that might just be the case for Melissa Ordway, who’s known for her role as Abby on The Young And the Restless, and her hubby, Justin Gaston! Both their kids, Sophie and Olivia have already set their sights on some big dreams for the future and let’s just say Justin and Melissa couldn’t be any happier to be an example for their dreams.
On her Instagram, Melissa couldn’t help but share a glimpse of her girls getting all dressed up for their “Career Day at school”. She wrote, “With an ‘Academy Award-winning actress’ and a ‘Pop Star singer.’ Dream big, my baby girls!”.
In the picture, seven year old Olivia was all dolled up in a blue dress, tiara, and holding an Oscar like a pro. Meanwhile, her sister Sophie, the five-year-old fashionista, was rocking a shiny purple dress, with microphone, and flashing a peace sign like a total star. And how could we miss their matching shoes, a staple for sisters.
Looks like Olivia might be following in her mom’s footsteps, considering Melissa’s successful acting career in movies like 17 Again, A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas, Ted, and more, not to mention her role on Y&R as the iconic Abby. Oh, and she even scored a Daytime Emmy nomination in 2022.

Now, Justin Gaston, their dad, he’s no slouch either. He’s dabbled in acting with roles in DAYS OF OUR LIVES and even a stint as Chance on Y&R. But acting is not the only talent he has, he’s a musical sensation with not one, but two albums to his name, Pineville and Songs for Her ( A Demo Mixtape). He’s even opened for American Idol winner Kris Allen.
Recently, he took the spotlight in the film, God’s Country Song, playing a country singer. It seems like Sophie might be taking a musical path after her pops! I mean what more could a parent wish for than having their kids look up to them and want to become just like them.
But this isn’t the first time Melissa heard of Sophie wanting to become an actress. In fact, last year around January 2022, in an interview she let us in her convo with Sophie. When Melissa told her she’s Abby Newman on Y&R, Sophie went all in. She said, “When I grow up, I’m gonna have a pretend husband, a pretend baby, and work with you!” Melissa’s response? “Go for it, kiddo! Maybe I’ll play your grandma someday!”
Melissa’s totally supportive with her girls diving into the entertainment industry, if that’s what they’re into. But she’s keeping it real. She knows it takes loads of hard work and time. She’d be their number one fan, but she’s not going stage mom on them. She knows the importance of supporting her kiddos, just like her own parents did for her.
So, whether Olivia and Sophie become mega-stars or chart their own unique paths, Melissa and Justin will be cheering them on, always. And who knows maybe Sophie will make her first debut into acting through soaps too?
