What’s Next for Days of Our Lives? Executive Drops Exciting News on Season Renewal
Days of Our Lives is hands down one of the best soap operas that the fans just love. The show has been in the industry since its debut on November 8, 1965 making it one of the world’s oldest and the longest running scripted television series. The show was created by Ted Corday and his wife, Betty Corday which originally aired on American Television Network NBC. But since 2022, it switched things up a bit and started airing on the streaming service Peacock. Since the beginning, the city of Salem has managed to keep the viewers hooked every week. But ever since its switch to a new Network, fans have been worried about its future. Thankfully, we just got word from the officials that Days isn’t going anywhere.
Days has been hitting us with more twists and turns than a rollercoaster lately, leaving fans hanging on the edge of their seats. First, we had Arianne Zucker, aka Nicole Walker, waving goodbye to Salem. Then, just when we thought things couldn’t get any crazier, the iconic Horton house bit the dust along with all those precious Christmas ornaments. But fear not fans, because there’s a glimmer of hope shining through the chaos.

In an interview with the Soap Hub, the Peacock/NBC’s executive vice president, Michael Sluchan said that the move to Peacock has been nothing but a hit for the show. “We are thrilled with the [show’s] performance. The viewers really did show up, and they moved over to Peacock. [The show] continues to be a top performer, and we’re very much behind [it].”
Sluchan’s got nothing but love for Days, promising to keep the legacy alive and kicking. He said, “We’re doing our best to honor the show’s legacy. We have such support from the show — all departments, publicity, marketing, and we have such a great cast. This was a big change for them after 57 years, coming over to this new platform.”
So, now that the transition has been as smooth as butter, Days is about to hit a major milestone. Yup! The show’s about to celebrate the big 59 this November and we’re all ready for the next era of Salem drama. In fact, they have filmed so far ahead that they have already started shooting their 60th season. Sluchan’s teasing us with promises of epic storylines and surprises galore. He said, “We’ve already heard some of the storylines for that, and we are energized,” and Ron Carlivati, the head writer has quite some exciting stories coming up too. So, while they’re all getting ready with the anniversary special with some classic Days vibes, there’s a whole new drama going on behind the scenes.

Ariana Zucker filed a lawsuit against the Days executive producer Albert Alarr regarding some serious sexual harassment on set. That’s not all, according to her, she was actually fired from the show because she confronted him. But the show denies Zucker’s claims saying that the lawsuit is” without merit”, and stating that Corday Productions had offered to renew her contract, even offering a higher salary. And rejecting Zucker’s counteroffer does not qualify as retaliation. They also state that complaints about Alarr’s behavior were quickly looked into, with the company cooperating fully and eventually dismissing Alarr. So while this legal issue looks far from over, let’s hope it all settles down before the Days anniversary celebration.
