Sheila Carter is alive but who did Steffy Forrester Kill that night?
Soap veteran Doug Davidson (Paul Williams) says he’s done with Y&R!
We haven’t seen Doug Davidson on the Young and the Restless in a while and we’re afraid that we may not see him on screen ever again. The soap veteran recently shared his frustration with the powers that be at the CBS show and his response to a fan’s tweet has left us wondering if he’s done with the show for real. Here’s what the Y&R actor had to say.
Doug Davidson last appeared on Y&R in November 2020
It can be frustrating for long time fans to not see their favorite characters on screen and this is precisely what this one fan pointed out on Twitter last week. As the fan wrote, Doug Davidson hasn’t been on the Y&R canvas since November 2020. He was dropped to recurring status in 2018 but we haven’t seen much of Paul Williams in Genoa City.
After a rocky few years with Mal Young as the head writer at the show, the hit daytime drama suffered a huge casting shuffle. The network ended up firing Young in December 2018. Fans assumed that the show would steer in a different direction with Josh Griffith as the new head writer and expected that their favorite Paul Williams would have more screen time. But there has not been any drastic changes.
Fans have also been frustrated with the show for using Paul Williams’ name when they have no intention of inviting Doug back on set. His name keeps popping up but we’re afraid to be hopeful about a return.
Doug Davidson is done with the show
It’s heartwarming to see that fans are still rooting for Doug’s return to the show. But the actor himself appears to have given up on the show. Replying to a tweet on March 6, Doug wrote, I am tired of fighting for the obvious.
Actually, it was Lily’s office and not explained. 🤷♂️ I am tired of fighting for the obvious https://t.co/59bY2xGRWV

Another fan suggested the actor that he isn’t being respected on the show, to which he replied, I am coming to the same conclusion.
What’s more concerning is this tweet from Doug where he wrote, I just want to thank you again for all your support. But I think I am done. After 43 years I am treated like a day player. No bueno.

Long time fans of Y&R can’t imagine the show without him and are rightly expressing their concern on social media. One fan suggested that they’d love to see Doug in a Hallmark movie but the actor joked that he’s too old for that scene.
It’s clear from reading his tweet and the replies to fans that the frustration has gotten the better of Doug. We sincerely hope that this disappointment won’t keep him from appearing in anything else. What do you think of Doug’s tweets? Let us know in the comments below.
