Christian LeBlanc says fans spotted his cancer sign on Young & Restless | Latest health update
It’s not just Eric facing the tough battle against cancer. Another beloved star from The Young and the Restless, Christian LeBlanc, has recently shared his own journey with the disease. And thankfully, due to the sharp eye of his devoted fans, it was caught in its early stages. How? Read on to more about his cancer battle story.
Christian LeBlanc says he’s been diagnosed with multiple myeloma
It had been months since Christian LeBlanc, who plays Michael Baldwin in the Young and the Restless, suddenly disappeared from the show. His months-long absence really made the fans worried, thinking maybe he left the show. How could they not? The last time we saw him was about 5 months back, and we didn’t quite hear anything from him or about his leave.
We finally know the reason behind his long hiatus and it’s bitter-sweet. In a chat with a local CBS affiliate in New Orleans, the 65-year-old actor made a heartbreaking reveal that he was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in June, a form of blood cancer that develops in plasma cells within the bone marrow.
This was a shocker for LeBlanc as he had never spent a day in the hospital during his 65 years until this year. He emphasized that while multiple myeloma is relatively common, it’s a particularly fast-moving type of cancer.

The journey to diagnosis wasn’t easy, with subtle signs and rapid weight loss being the first red flags. He also described an incident where he put on his character Michael Baldwin’s wedding ring, only for it to slip off without any resistance. He said, “My nose started bleeding on set, this eye kind of got a little wonky, and there was a tumor in the sinus cavity.” In just two months, he had lost about 35 pounds. That led him to question what was happening. But thanks to the fans, he caught some more signs right away.

The fans saw his changes in his eyes right away. He recalled receiving comments like, “Your eye is a little Jim Carrey that way, a little Michael this way.” Turns out it was actually the tumor that had been pressing on his optic nerve.
After undergoing immunotherapy treatment, LeBlanc is now in remission and on a journey to regain the weight he lost. His doctors advised him to “eat like it’s your job,” and he humorously responded that he was raised in Louisiana, so that’s something he can handle with ease.
LeBlanc found it somewhat surreal that his real-life diagnosis mirrored his TV character’s experience with cancer. “It’s interesting. You play that scene where you hear the word, just the word, in a doctor’s office: cancer. And I got to play that as Michael Baldwin,” he said.
All’s well that ends well. Thankfully, all the hard parts are gone and all he needs to care about is gaining his muscles back. LeBlanc is right on track to get his life back to normal and has already resumed working on Young and the Restless already. In this journey, LeBlanc is going to need a lot of support and love from people around him. So let us all come together and show love and support for him in the comments below while also praying for his steady recovery.
