The Bold and the Beautiful is one of the longest running soap operas in American television history. When a show’s been on the air for over four decades, there’s bound to be more than a few special appearances from unexpected visitors. Every now and then celebrities from outside the daytime world appear as guest stars on soap operas. While some celebs appear in a cameo role, others have stayed on for longer story arcs spanning multiple episodes. So let’s take a walk down memory lane and look at some of the most recognizable celebrity guest stars who have appeared on the Bold and the Beautiful over the years.
Alan Thicke
The late Growing Pains actor, Alan Thicke, famously made a few appearances on the Bold and the Beautiful in the late 2000s. He first appeared on the show in August 2006 as talk show host Rich Ginger who was hired as a spokesmodel for Forrester Creations. Thicke is best known for his role as Dr. Jason Seaver on the 80s sitcom Growing Pains and also hosted his own shows such as Thicke of the Night and The Alan Thicke Show. He returned to B&B in 2007 and made a few guest appearances until 2009. The actor passed away in 2016 after a heart attack at age 69.
Betty White
Another famous celebrity that guest starred on B&B in the late 2000s is Betty White, who played Pamela and Stephanie’s mother, Ann Douglas. White appeared in a few episodes when the character had a redemption arc on the show. Ann refused to acknowledge Stephanie’s years of suffering at the hands of her father. Eventually Eric helped Ann mend the bridges with her daughter. The character appeared again when Pam had brain surgery and again in 2009 to reveal that she had cancer. She passed away peacefully with Stephanie by her side on the shore of Paradise Cove. White appeared in 23 B&B episodes in total.
Bob Barker
Bob Barker is one of the most popular game show personalities of all time. He has made several guest appearances in television shows and movies, and added a B&B guest role to his legendary resume in 2002. The former Price is Right host made his third appearance on the soap in 2014 when his character and Wyatt Spencer got into a fight. The Happy Gilmore fight scene … is still a favorite with audiences to this day. It was fun to visit The Bold and the Beautiful and to know that I can still throw a punch. It’s proof that those karate lessons with Chuck Norris are still paying off,” Barker said in a statement.
Drew Carey
The Price is Right’s current host Drew Carey has also guest starred on the Bold and the Beautiful. Carey brought the iconic daytime game show to the soap in 2009. Donna was a contestant on the show and won a car.
Chaz Bono
In 2016, Chaz Bono guest starred on the show as Reverend Rydell who officiated Steffy’s marriage to Wyatt. The well known performer reprised his role in June that year. “It was a really great experience, I learned a ton, and I really loved the people that I worked with,” he said at the time.
Christopher Knight
Christopher Knight, who you may know as Peter Brady on the 70s hit show Brady Bunch, signed on to appear on B&B in 2010. He played a pediatrician named Dr Andrews who treated Owen and Bridget’s newborn baby. The character re-appeared in late 2017 to tend to an injured Sheila Carter and once again in late 2018.
Daddy Yankee
Singer and rapper Daddy Yankee was a guest star on the show in June 2010. He had a five episode story arc where he performed a few songs from his then new album. The Latin Grammy award winning singer isn’t the only music artist to appear on B&B.
Grammy award winning R&B singer Usher joined the cast of the soap in 1998. He appeared as Amber Moore’s friend, Raymond King, for almost a dozen episodes until 1999 after which the role was recast with actor Karim Prince. Raymond was involved in a pregnancy storyline where Amber didn’t know if her baby was Raymond or Rick’s.
Pop singer Julia Michaels had a brief guest appearance during her early career in 2013.
Dawn Wells
Best known for playing Mary Ann Summer on the sitcom Gilligan’s Island from 1964 to 1976, Dawn Wells guest starred as Eric and Stephanie’s friend Alice in early 2016. In an interview, Wells shared that she was thrilled to guest star on the CBS soap opera and thought it was similar to being on stage. It was her first and only time on a daytime drama.She starred as “good girl” Mary Ann in the popular 1960s sitcom Gilligan’s Island. Before gaining popularity in television, Wells represented Nevada in the 1959 Miss America pageant. She then found success in Hollywood appearing in shows such as 77 Sunset Strip, Maverick, Bonanza, The Joey Bishop Show and Hawaiian Eye. Other shows of her include Growing Pains, Baywatch and the Bold and the Beautiful. The well known TV actress passed away last year after complications from Covid. She was 82 years old.
Don Most
Happy Days actor Don Most guest starred as handyman Pete in a couple of episodes in 2017. He appeared on the scene to look into some faulty electric lines at Spectra Fashions and shared some flirty moments with Shirley Spectra.
Erin Moran
Don’s Happy Days co-star Erin Moran was also a guest star on the show years before him. In 2009, she played the role of Kelly DeMartin, Katie’s friendly neighbor who showed up for her wedding to Bill Spencer. The actress, who was best known for playing Joanie Cunningham on Happy Days, passed away in 2017.
Wayne Brady
Wayne Brady made his daytime debut with a guest role on the Bold and the Beautiful in November 2018, playing the infamous Reese Buckingham. You may know that his daughter plays Tiffany on the show. During a set visit, Brady approached Brad Bell and told him that he’d love to play a character on the show. A few days later, the role of Reese Buckingham was created. The doctor was involved in a baby swap storyline that unraveled over several months which ended in him going to jail for stealing Hope’s baby and an illegal adoption scheme. During the time, he was involved in a romantic storyline with Steffy’s mom, Taylor. Fans seemed to really love the character but it doesn’t seem like he’s returning to the show anytime soon. In 2019, he told TV Insider that he had no plans to return to the show. “That was a great moment and I did it for a specific reason in that time. They say you never say never, so I won’t say never, but I have no plans to return because I feel it wrapped up and people loved it. You can never recapture the thing people liked the first time.” he said at the time.
Hal Linden
Emmy and Tony awards winning actor Hal Linden played Jerry Kramer on the Bold and the Beautiful in 2007. He had a short romance with Nick Marone’s mother, Jackie. Linden is best known for his titular role in the popular television show Barney Miller.
