Sheila Carter is alive but who did Steffy Forrester Kill that night?
Who is Nate Hastings? What happened to him in Y&R?
Nate Hastings was introduced as the son of Nathan Hastings and Olivia. He was played by a few kid actors before Walter Fauntleroy took the role as an adult in 2011 for a quick appearance. Nate, then, made a comeback in July 2018 with Brooks Darnell stepping into the role, and since April 10, 2019, Sean Dominic has been the face of Nate, keeping the role going strong.
Growing up, Nate got pretty attached to Malcolm Winters, his stepdad, and wasn’t happy when Olivia split with him for Neil Winters, Malcolm’s brother. Things got more complicated when Olivia decided Neil would be Nate’s guardian if anything happened to her, especially after Malcolm was mistakenly thought to be dead. Nate eventually warmed up to Neil, but because Neil was hitting the bottle hard grieving his brother, Olivia tried to keep Nate at a distance from him.
Nate vanished to boarding school and next thing, in 2008, Olivia dropped the news he was in med school. Fast forward to 2011, and Nate pops back into Genoa City, this time as the doctor for Ronan Malloy, who’s got liver issues. He caught up with family, including Neil, Malcolm, and his cousins Lily and Devon. Then, in July 2018, Nate showed up out of the blue in Genoa City again, this time because Neil wanted him to treat Victor Newman secretly.
He crashed at Neil’s place, where Hilary Curtis wasn’t too thrilled about him. But then, Neil filled her in that Nate was going to pop the question to his sweetheart, Carolyn, when she tragically died. Later, when Hilary and her unborn baby were in a car crash, Nate did everything to save them, but sadly, Hilary and the baby didn’t make it.
Nate also took care of Nikki Newman’s MS, and after she got hit by a car, he was the one getting her to a safe spot to recover. He was a solid support for Devon after Hilary’s death and stepped in to save Lola Rosales with a liver transplant operation. When Victor faced a deadly blood disease, Nate was the go-to guy trying to find a cure and deal with the risky side effects. Things started looking up in his love life when he and Abby Newman hit it off.

But, Nate and Abby’s spark eventually died out, leaving Nate feeling pretty lost. He and Elena Dawson decided to open a clinic together, keeping it professional since she was seeing Devon. Yet, Nate found himself falling for the new girl in town, Amanda Sinclair, and even asked her out.
Deep down, though, Nate was attracted to Elena, and working closely only fanned those flames. After Elena shared her relationship troubles with Devon, one thing led to another, and she and Nate ended up together. Elena was torn up with guilt and debated telling Devon the truth, leaving Nate to respect her choice. But when she confessed without warning Nate, an angry Devon confrontation ended with Nate’s hand injured, throwing his surgical career into jeopardy. Feeling guilty and overwhelmed, Nate thought about skipping town to escape the mess but he didn’t.
Nate and Elena tried to make teir relaionship work but when he found out she was still sleeping with Devon, it ended. Despite dumping her, they still had to clock in together, like when they diagnosed Rey Rosales’ poisoning and saved Faith Newman’s life post-crash with a kidney swap. After Elena saved Nate from a serious allergic reaction, they kissed and made up, but things were shaky. Despite Imani’s open flirting, Nate stayed loyal, though he was bummed when Moses ditched the med path but hey he became chief of surgery.
When Nate stepped down from his medical post, he hooked Billy and Lily up with Elena for his replacement. Then came a surprise when Ashland Locke tapped him to be his best man at the wedding to Victoria Newman. After the big day, Nate invited Elena to shack up with him. But when the hospital started griping about their romance, Nate stormed out, thinking he’d join Ashland’s team. But then he discovered Locke’s cancer hoax and blew the whistle. Devon swooped in with an offer for Nate to be his COO at Chancellor-Winters, and Nate jumped at the chance.
Nate and Elena moved into a penthouse after Chelsea cleared out, but he shut down her suspicions about Imani’s interest in him. Working with Devon was a headache, with constant clashes over Nate’s ideas, and Imani wasn’t helping by stirring the pot. Nate almost bailed on the job, but Victoria convinced him to stay, especially after they cooked up a plan to take over Chancellor-Winters. Along the way, he met Audra Charles, who got the scoop on everyone in the office. Sadly, when Nate revealed about his scheme to boot Devon and take over, Elena wasn’t feeling the new Nate and called for a timeout.
Nate came clean to Lily, Devon, Billy, and Audra about his sneaky moves, but kept Victoria’s name out of the mess. Of course, he got the boot from Chancellor-Winters, and then Elena took off to check out a job in Baltimore. Victoria swooped in with a CEO offer for Nate at Newman Media, and after some thought, he snagged the gig. When Elena returned and gave him another shot, Nate was over the moon. But things hit south when he hired Audra as Newman Media’s COO, sparking jealousy from Elena. Little did she know, Nate was more into Victoria than he let on, letting work take priority over his relationship. Victoria tried to get Nate to cheat, but he stayed loyal. That is until he fibbed to Elena about a trip to L.A. and ended up in bed with Victoria!

When Elena busted them, she dumped Nate and bolted. But Nate was all about going public with Victoria and getting the COO spot at Newman Enterprises. He also kept Audra in the loop, even getting her a job at Newman Media. Despite rumors of Nate using Victoria, she stood by him. However, when Nate pitched a merger idea with Audra’s company, Victoria shut it down, and Nate swore off keeping secrets, admitting he was falling for Victoria.
