Much like several other cast members of The Young and the Restless, Colleen Zenk found herself the target of negative comments. Let’s say the internet didn’t hold back, and in a recent interview, she addressed these remarks head-on. If you want to know all about it, let’s get into it right away.
Collen Zenk gets labeled as “bad actor” by the internet users
Colleen Zenk’s return to the daytime soap scene, especially on The Young and the Restless, has been a delightful surprise for fans who fondly remember her 30-year stint as Barbara Ryan on As the World Turns. But even when you’re a soap vet or a legend, you are bound to get into some negative comments.
And just like many other actors such as Hunter King and Camryn Grimes who have gone through the hate on the internet for no reason this year, Zenk also got it this time. One of the new faces on Young and the Restless, Zenk got a series of hate comments, which she addressed in a recent interview with Soap Opera Digest.
Zenk talked about one of her standout scenes, where the camera expertly captured Jordan’s expression hidden behind a furnace grate at the lake house, and shed light on the effort it took for achieving the perfect shot. She explained how much fun she had during the multiple takes to capture “the exact eyeball in the right area.”
Now, about the drama around Jordan’s character, Colleen wants her to be all dramatic, adding a splash of theater to the Newman steeliness. She says, “It’s a huge contrast to them.” But, some fans are yelling “overacting” and have labeled her as a bad actor.
Not so, says Zenk. It’s all intentional, a character choice she’s making, not an accidental over-the-top performance. When she sees hurtful comments like that on the internet, she does not let it faze her because there are even more people out there who totally love her and compliments her acting all the time.
Zenk is over the moon and thankful for the fans who have loved her even after a 13-year hiatus from the daytime canvas. Zenk admitted to being pleasantly surprised and said, “I did not anticipate this tidal wave of response from the fans. It’s really been something and I can’t thank them enough. I mean, the fact that they even remembered me after 13 years.”

But the fun fact is, you may think people recognize her everywhere but Zenk says that’s not the case yet. ”I’m not because I’m usually in a baseball hat, but I was in Utah for Thanksgiving with a friend and I got recognized all over the place. It was crazy but really nice,” she said. She is just having the time of her life right now.
And we cannot miss her acting on the latest episode of Y&R, the fight scene between her and Nikki. Fans all over twitter have been praising her. One of the fans tweeted, “Aunt Jordan giving a false tip about herself is top tier psychotic. Just throw that damn 2024 Guest Emmy at Colleen Zenk right now,” while another wrote, “This is so entertaining watching Colleen Zenk playing the hell out of a vicious, cruel, and evil woman. It’s given so much life to the show.”
