Young and the Restless’s top 5 unforgettable Christmas special episodes
Alright it’s finally here!!! It’s Christmas, and for this holy Jolly day, we bring you top 5 Special Christmas episode’s special moments that honestly are our personal favorites too. So without any further ado, let’s jump right into it.
Number 5: Christmas of 2008
At the fifth spot on our countdown is the unforgettable Christmas episode of 2008 that touched our hearts deeply. Transport yourself back to the holiday season of that year, where Michael Baldwin, portrayed by the incredibly talented Christian LeBlanc, found himself at a crossroads questioning his very existence.
He wondered if the world would be a better place if he was never born. It was the lowest point in his life. So, in this episode, where he felt like he was better off dead, Paul came to him as his spirit guide and showed him how he had changed into a better person. Paul reminded him how if it wasn’t for him then Danny would’ve died. If he hadn’t donated his life saving kidney to him, then we would never see Danny for this long.
Also, Paul and Christine would be dead if he hadn’t saved them like he did from Isabella. And Gloria, his trouble-magnet mom – she wouldn’t be where she is without him. That’s not all. If it wasn’t for Michael then, Kevin would probably be in a mental hospital, locked up!
So, after this trip down memory lane, Michael woke up the next day feeling all warm and grateful for the crazy rollercoaster that his life was and celebrated a merry Christmas with his love Lauren and family.

Number 4: Christmas of 2010
Taking the spot at number 4 is the Christmas of 2010. Back in 2010, Victor, played by Eric Braeden, was in full Grinch mode, pushing his family away and isolating himself. But then, suddenly his dead dad Albert appeared, predicting Victor was going to be lonely and bitter just like his old man.
Then he gets a little visit from three spirits. First up, the late wife Hope, played by Signy Coleman, who took Victor back to the orphanage where he got the cold shoulder as a kid. She pointed out how Nikki showered him with love and family. Then, Sabrina, another ghostly ex, gave Victor a peek at his family thriving without him.
Lastly, a mysterious hooded spirit who showed him a future, where Nikki was living the good life with Jack, Nick inheriting Victor’s bitterness and work obsessed nature, and Sharon mourning the death of Adam. Turns out, the hooded mystery was actually Colleen, upset that Victor wasn’t taking care of the heart she donated. Victor woke up from this holiday nightmare, did a 180, and spread gifts and cheer to his loved ones.
Number 3: Christmas of 2011
In 2011, a stunning blonde woman played by Melissa Yeager approached Nikk, claiming to be her guardian angel sent by the late John Abbott and Douglas Austin. At that Christmas, Nikki was struggling with alcoholism, and having crashed her car on the way to Victoria and Billy’s wedding, Nikki considered herself worthless. However, the guardian angel was there to prove that wrong. Through heartwarming flashbacks, the angel proved to her just how much her family and her friends loved and needed her.
Just as the angel was about to vanish, she revealed herself as Nikki’s mother, Barbara, who had tragically passed away in a car accident during Nikki’s teenage years. Nikki then woke up, relieved that she hadn’t missed her daughter’s Christmas Eve wedding and was there to witness her getting married.
Number 2: Christmas of 2017
In 2017, we had a special episode with four segments, each inspired by a classic Christmas song.
In “We Three Kings,” Sharon and her daughter Mariah were trying to figure out what gifts to get. So, Mariah gave Sharon a touching necklace which had “Mom” written on it and Sharon gave her a precious snow globe that once belonged to Mariah’s dead sister, Cassie.
Moving to “What Child Is This,” Hilary’s initially grinchy demeanor melted away during a TV interview with Devon for his charity toy drive. Discovering a childhood letter she had written, sent by her Sunday school teacher, transformed Hilary’s mood, and she went on to celebrate Christmas with Devon and Mariah.
Enter “The 12 Days of Christmas,” where Phyllis tried to hide her disappointment when Billy’s gift was delayed. But thankfully, it arrived when they were together, which was a partridge in a pear tree with a pouch of five golden rings.
In the final segment, “Angels We Have Heard on High,” Nikki encountered a homeless woman named Kathy, who, strangely familiar, turned out to be a comforting version of the late Katherine Chancellor sent to lift Nikki’s spirits during the Christmas season. This was a very special episode that we all still love.
Number 1: Christmas of 2021
Although all were the best, one that stood out was the Christmas of 2021. It was an emotional one, especially for Nick. When Christmas was just around the corner, Nick felt kinda down because being the Newman family peacemaker seemed like a thankless gig.
After a hectic day of shopping, gift-giving, and throwing a party for kiddos in need, Nick crashed at Crimson Lights and dozed off. Then in his dream, his family dropped by, appreciating him for everything he’d done. Faith praised him for being an awesome dad, Adam thanked Nick for a new lease on life, Victoria admitted Nick meddling in her love life was just ’cause he cared, Sharon thanked him for being her rock during the cancer battle, and even Victor confessed Nick was so much of a better dad than he ever was.
When Nick woke up, Summer phoned in from Milan, and out of nowhere, he decided to jet off to Italy after celebrating Christmas in Genoa City to ring in the New Year’s Eve birthday bash with his daughter, Kyle, and little Harrison.
