Breaking News: Jordi Vilasuso (Rey Rosales) confirms exit on Y&R
We are deeply shocked as we report to you the exit of Jordi Vilasuso from the CBS daytime, The Young and the Restless. Jordi’s stint is coming to an end after four years of bringing life to detective Rey Rosales on the show. The actor confirmed the news in an exclusive interview with Soap Opera Digest this week. Keep watching to know more.
Jordi Vilasuso made his debut on Y&R during a crucial storyline
Digest exclusively reported in its new issue that Jordi is no longer a cast member at Y&R. In a statement to the magazine, the Cuban-American actor said, “Playing Rey Rosales on THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS for the past 4 years has been an incredible experience that has brought me immense joy as an actor.”
He went on to thank Josh Griffith, the current head writer at Y&R, along with his co-star Sharon in his departing note.
“Thank you to Josh Griffith, who gave me the opportunity to sink my teeth into storylines that were some of the highlights of my career in this genre. Thank you to Sharon Case and the rest of the cast for their craft, support, and professionalism. I will miss it, remember it fondly, and look forward to what the next chapter will be!” he said.
Vilasuso originated the role of Rey Rosales on August 17, 2018, when GCPD was investigating the missing case of J.T. Hellstrom. As he worked on the case, he started developing feelings for Sharon and they eventually began a relationship. Together, the pair went through some major setbacks including Sharon’s cancer. Finally, they tied the knot on new year’s eve in 2020.
Fast forward to this day, Rey and Sharon aren’t having the best of their married life but they were trying to make it work. There were doubts that the pair could ever reignite the spark but nobody saw this coming.
