The Top 5 Worst Young and Restless Couples of All Time
One thing we love about Young and the Restless is the rollercoaster of romances they have given us. From the beginning to fights to breakups, we have seen it all. Some succeed, some don’t. And on top of that, over the past 50 years, there have been countless relationships that have been the best while others have been the absolute worst.
Some couples get a lot of side-eye, maybe because they’re not clicking, the stories are snooze-fests, or the matchups are just not it. But hey, there are those power couples like Jack and Diane or Michael and Lauren who bring the drama, keep us guessing, and have characters we either root for or love to hate. So today, we have brought you the top 5 worst couples of Young and the Restless. So, without any further ado, let’s jump right into it.
Number 1. Sharon Collins and Victor Newman
This pair-up was literally the worst, and honestly, it didn’t even make sense. The only thing that came out of this couple was trauma for the viewers. Sharon (Sharon Case) and Victor (Eric Braeden) as a couple? That was like watching a train wreck in slow motion. First off, zero chemistry—it was like watching paint dry. But wait, it gets worse. I mean, Sharon, who’s already dealing with a messed-up marriage to Victor’s son, Nick (Joshua Morrow), decides to hit the reset button. Okay, fair enough. But she goes for a fresh start by locking lips with her father-in-law, Victor. I bet you all remember that scene.
And when Nick walked in on them kissing, it was like the soap opera version of “What the heck did I just witness?” Poor Nick, he got his girl stolen by his own father. And the thing is, over the years, Sharon and Victor built this father-daughter vibe, so when they took it to a romantic level, everyone was collectively grossed out. It was so weird.
Now, the writers tried to patch things up by saying Victor’s move was some strategic chess move during his time behind bars. But, c’mon, who were they kidding? We all saw the signs of real romantic feelings before that, and the fans weren’t having it. People were straight-up repulsed, and the outcry was so loud that the whole storyline got the boot. And thank God for that. Now, we just pretend this thing never even happened.

Number 2. Noah Newman and Tessa Porter
We always tend to forget that Noah Newman (Rory Gibson) and Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) used to be a thing back in the day. The duo started off their romance in crimson lights, thanks to his mom, Sharon. But if you were expecting some epic romance, it was disappointing. Don’t get me wrong, they had this whole music thing going on, but when it came to the lovey-dovey stuff, it felt like it was missing. No heart-flipping moments or those cute and cheesy scenes that make you believe in real love—just a kind of surface-level connection, you know? As their thing evolved, it was crystal clear that their common ground was pretty much limited to their passion for music.
While Tessa and Noah never hit that level where they spilled all their secrets to each other, she was off pouring her heart out to everyone but him, and guess what? She then found love somewhere else, and that’s with Mariah (Camryn Grimes), Noah’s half-sister. oh. The stab in the back did spice up the storyline. So, Noah, feeling all heartbroken, decides to leave Genoa City.
But what about Tessa? Well, she ended up marrying Mariah, being the first LGBTQ couple on the show, and let me tell you, they had more sparks than Tessa and Noah ever did. Noah, being the sweet guy he is, forgives them both, even though you can see it stings a bit. But honestly, looking at how shallow their connection was, Noah might have dodged a bullet there and found Allie.
Number 3. Patty Williams and Jack Abbott
The Young and the Restless fans could see the disaster coming from miles away when it came to Patty Williams and Jack (Peter Bergman) tying the knot. Let’s be real, their journey was like watching a slow train wreck, and the lack of excitement was as clear as day. Jack, ladies and gentlemen, and Patty, who had enough mental baggage for all of Genoa City, just seemed like an odd match from the get-go.
It was no shocker that Jack kept on with his cheating ways, making the whole storyline feel like a broken record. The repetitiveness just sucked the life out of the plot. Patty and Jack’s union was missing the basics that make soap relationships pop – you know, genuine affection, chemistry, and those juicy secrets. Many folks out there were scratching their heads, wondering why characters like Diane (Susan Walters) or Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) weren’t in the mix. They could’ve gone head-to-head with Jack and added some real spice to the story.
The most unexpected twist was Patty having a miscarriage after catching Jack with Diane, sending her mental state into a tailspin. And then, bam, she shows up at Jack’s office, packing heat, ready to shoot herself while he watches. But, of course, the show wouldn’t kill a major character like that, so what do we get? The classic coma storyline But I am glad that relationship ended.
Number 4: Adam Newman and Sharon Collins
Alright, tuning into Adam (Mark Grossman) and Sharon’s saga on “Y&R” was like witnessing a rollercoaster of chaos, kind of intense, but you just couldn’t change the channel. Adam, the troublemaker, mixed up with Sharon and her attachment quirks? It’s definitely not a match made in heaven. It all kicked off with Adam chasing her, hiding some shady secret. And get this, even after he pulled a stunt like swiping a baby, Sharon didn’t hit the brakes on their relationship.
Everyone was giving Sharon a major side-eye, wondering why she’s letting her precious kiddo hang out with the guy like that. But along with all that, Adam did have a soft spot for Sharon, playing the knight in shining armor when she got wrongly accused of murder.
But then Adam uncovers Sharon’s fake death and her new romance. His revenge game? Destroying evidence, testifying against her, and pulling off a soap-worthy betrayal at the jailhouse altar. That’s some next-level drama right there. Even Sharon couldn’t ignore the toxic vibes eventually. So, it came to an end, but with their wild history, who knows, a round two of romance might just be lurking around the corner. I mean, the show even hinted at it, but so far, nothing, and we hope it stays that way. Because Sally is the one for him.
Number 5. Nick Newman and Sally Spectra
Another weird combination of romance was Nick and Sally. I mean, they sure had a little fire in them at the beginning, but that was it. The no-tag relationship was the only spice for them, but when it came to an actual relationship, it was bland. Nick has never been the committed kind of guy, but he will give it a shot if it’s for Sharon.
Putting Sally with Nick after she just came out of a serious relationship with Adam was the wrong choice. It was honestly useless and just some messing around. Eventually, Sally wanted to be serious, but Nick always had other priorities that always came before her. He always chose the other option. When she lost Adam’s baby, it was clear they didn’t really have any real connection.
Plus, putting a girl between brothers was a bad call from the writers, and later, just to show they had something real, the writers made it look like Nick actually loved her when he broke up with her. So this couple was also a bad one for our choice. It only took time off for other potential couples. But hey, at least, it made Adam realize what a gem he lost and that he is still trying to win her back.
