Mattie Ashby and Charlie Ashby are twins children of Cane Ashby and Lily Winters and were first introduced back in 2010. Jordan Lemnah first portrayed the role as an infant Mattie, followed by McKenna Roberts, who took over in 2013 until 2017, then Lexi Stevenson in 2017. Similarly, Charlie was portrayed as an infant by Parker Rose Curry, from 2010 to 2012, followed by Aidan Clark from 2013 to 2016, Brandin Stennis from 2016 to 2017 and finally, Noah Alexander Gerry in 2017. And right now, the twins have been of screen since 2019.
When Lily Winters and Cane Ashby fell in love despite their huge age difference, they had a lot of hurdles in their relationship. But when they got married, it was revealed that Lily had ovarian cancer. Lily faced a tough battle with ovarian cancer but refused surgery as it would mean sacrificing her chance to have children. Thanks to her aunt Olivia, two eggs were harvested before her operation. Despite her illness, Lily was determined to have kids and her friend Mackenzie Browning offered to be the surrogate.
When Lily’s health worsened, Liv suggested using the baby’s stem cells for treatment, but both Lily and Mac rejected the idea fearing harm to the babies. As tensions rose, Cane even sued Mac for the stem cells, though he later dropped the case. The stress led Mac to premature labor, but thankfully, the babies, named Charlie and Matilda, were born healthy. Both Cane and Lily were overjoyed and their umbilical cord blood was even used for Lily’s strength for chemo.
The twins were mostly raised by Cane and Lily but when Cane faked his death and pretended to be Caleb, his dad, Colin Atkinson even tried kidnapping the kids. But soon, Mattie and Charlie weren’t kids for too long because they were aged into teenagers in 2017. As a teenaged lacrosse player, Charlie had a brief relationship with Zoey and a troubled young girl, Shauna who moved away to Colorado. Meanwhile, Mattie with also in a relationship with Reed Hellstrom but that ended when she revealed about his drunk driving.
During the summer, Mattie landed an internship at the Hamilton-Winters Group, eager to meet her family’s expectations, while Charlie took on a lifeguarding job at the Genoa City Athletic Club, charming guests, even a woman his father had cheated with.
After finding out their father’s affair with Juliet as well as getting her pregnant, the twins were understandably upset, but eventually accepted their new sibling, Sam Ashby. Lily kicked Cane out, leading to a separation that didn’t shock the twins. Between their own romantic ups and downs, both twins secured internships at Hamilton Winters Group with Charlie in music and Mattie at Lily’s modeling agency.

After their parents reconciled only to divorce later again, the twins weren’t really surprised. Lily was off to teach the inmates at the prison was sent to, while Cane was off to investigate about Katherine’s will. So, worried about their future, their grandfather, Neil winters, gave them both trust funds after he passed away, hoping they would work in the family business.

As they grew older, both twins started exploring opportunities beyond Genoa City. Mattie enrolled at Stanford University, where she worked in a medical lab while figuring out her career path. Meanwhile, Charlie secured an internship with a renowned music producer in New York City. In 2019, they both left GC and that year, they even spent the holidays with Cane in Europe. So far they haven’t been back in town but in November 2023, Lily went to Stanford University to help her daughter Mattie when she and other students were victims and trapped in a wildfire.
