Who is Cane Ashby? What happened to him in Y&R?
Cane Ashby was first introduced in Young and the Restless back in 2007, portrayed by the Australian-American actor, Daniel Goddard. But sadly in 2019, Goddard broke our hearts by announcing his departure from the show. Yet, fans still cling to hope, wishing for Cane’s return to Genoa City.
In 2007, Cane Ashby popped up in Genoa City as the handsome bartender at Indigo searching for his family roots. Amber Moore, thinking he might be Jill Abbott’s lost son, Phillip Chancellor III, pulled a fast one in Vegas, getting him wasted and convincing him they got married. Eventually, it turned out he was Jill’s son, but the marriage was a sham. Cane then set his sights on Lily Winters and they two fell in love, despite the age difference. They hit a rough patch when she lost their baby, but they stuck together and eventually moved in. And hey, Cane even popped the question after that!
When Cane got wasted in Chloe Mitchell’s car, she also pulled a fast one, making him believe they hooked up and that the baby she was carrying was his. Lily split from Cane and pushed him to marry Chloe for the sake of the baby. Billy Abbott later found out he was the real father but let Cane keep raising the child with Chloe while he pursued a thing with Lily. However, when Cane found out the truth that Billy was Delia’s father , he dumped Chloe and went back to Lily, marrying her at last.
Their happiness hit a pause when Lily found out Cane wasn’t actually Jill’s son, but a stand-in hired by Phillip. Yet, when Lily battled ovarian cancer, Cane stood by her side, and they got back together. Though Lily couldn’t conceive anymore, they decided to expand their family through surrogacy with Mackenzie Browning. In 2010, they welcomed twins, Charlie and Mattie, into their lives.
